Nixsy's Breedables Lore

Chapter 1

One sunny day, with fluffy clouds drifting lazily above and birdsong filling the air, Nixsy wandered through the forest on what she thought would be an ordinary walk. But the rustling of leaves and snapping of twigs soon told her she wasn't alone. She paused, listening intently, eyes scanning the ferns.

Nixsy in the forest

From the greenery came flashes of fur, feathers, and scales—and what sounded suspiciously like whispers, though not in any language she knew. Curious, she crept closer, parting the ferns with cautious hands.

There before her were several small creatures—strange animals with oversized eyes, all different species gathered together. One shoved another, and a third tried to break up the squabble. Nixsy blinked in disbelief, wondering if she had fallen asleep and begun dreaming. But if it was a dream, it was the most vivid she'd ever had.

When she cleared her throat, the entire group froze. Eight pairs of eyes locked on her at once. For a heartbeat, they stared at one another. Then, in a flurry of fur and feathers, the animals bolted into the underbrush.

The small magical creatures running

Nixsy of course ran after them, and as she ran she began to notice the forest changing. The trees shimmered with brighter colors, as though she had stepped into a painting. The ground beneath her glowed faintly, littered with sticks that had been suspiciously arranged—traps meant to trip a human's feet. She stumbled but pressed on.

Flashes of color danced ahead: scales like jewels, feathers like stained glass, coats of fur in pastel shades. The creatures weren't just animals; they were something more. Something magical.

And though they fled, their laughter—soft, strange, and almost human—lingered in the air. Nixsy's breath came quick as she pushed through the glowing brush, but she refused to stop. The laughter, faint and otherworldly, tugged her deeper until the trees suddenly parted.

Nixsy reaching the glowing clearing

She stumbled into a wide clearing bathed in soft light. Flowers shimmered in impossible hues—petals shifting like starlight, grass glowing faintly with every step she took. Tiny orbs of light drifted lazily above her head, bobbing like fireflies but pulsing with a slow, steady rhythm, as though the very forest was breathing.

And there they were—the creatures she had chased—now gathered in a loose circle near the center of the clearing. A small Cervid twitched its ears nervously, its tiny antlers catching the glow. Beside it, a plump Leporidae bounced anxiously in place, whispering something to a sharp-eyed Feline who swished its tail with clear annoyance. A proud little Reptile flicked its tongue into the air while a pair of Canines nudged each other, grinning mischievously. High above, an Avian circled, feathers scattering motes of light as it landed gracefully on a stone.

Chapter 2

For a moment, Nixsy simply stood, her mouth slightly open. They weren't just animals. They were something else—something that radiated magic and mischief in equal measure.

The equine was the first to notice her, stamping a hoof with a dramatic toss of its mane. The others turned, and once again, a dozen eyes fixed on Nixsy.

She raised her hands slowly, forcing a smile. “Hi there…” she whispered. “I'm not here to hurt you.”

The feline snorted. The leporidae squeaked. The reptile tilted its head, smoke curling faintly from its nose. For a long, breathless moment, it seemed they might scatter again.

But then, the smallest of the canines stepped forward. Its fur shimmered like moonlight, and though its eyes were wary, its tail gave the slightest wag.

Nixsy crouched low, extending her hand. “It's alright,” she murmured. “I've been looking for you, I think… even if I didn't know it until now.”

The clearing held its breath. Then, with a cautious step, the little canine pressed its nose into her palm.

And in that instant, Nixsy felt it—a spark of warmth, like the whole glade had exhaled. The others relaxed, chatter and whispers starting again, softer this time.

Nixsy's heart raced. She knew, somehow, she had just stumbled into a secret no other human had ever seen.

Nixsy's heart was still pounding from the canine's touch when she shifted her weight back, only to feel something catch at her heel. The sticks!!! The very ones she had seen scattered earlier, laid like little traps.

She stumbled, arms flailing, then tumbled backward. The world spun, her head striking the soft mossy earth with a dull thud. A sharp flash of light filled her vision before everything went dark.
