How many species are there and why are there so many?
There are 8 starter species: Cervid, Bovine, Canine, Feline, Avian, Reptile, Leporidae, and Equine.
We have a variety of species so everyone can focus on the pets they like most, and to keep breeding interesting long-term.

Can all species cross-breed?
Yes. All species can cross-breed. Cross-breeding is one of the ways you can unlock new species.

Can we breed pure pets only and still unlock things?
Yes. Breeding pure pets gives you a chance to unlock things like new coats, new eyes, and more.
“Pure” means breeding two pets of the same species together (and meeting the purity rules described below).

What is considered a “pure” pet?
Nixsy Breedables uses a 4-generation tree. To be considered pure for a desired species/trait, the entire tree must be that desired species/trait in every position.
You can then breed a pure pet with another pet that has a similarly pure tree for a chance to unlock new traits.

Are unlocks guaranteed?
No. Unlocks are based on a percentage chance, not a guaranteed trigger.
Is this breedable animesh?
Yes. All species in Nixsy Breedables are Animesh.
Each species is generally around 19–26 LI in Animesh mode and around 1–5 LI in static mode. These numbers may change slightly as the project progresses, but should stay roughly in these ranges.

Does this breedable require food?
Yes. Each pet eats 4 times per day.
How much does it cost to feed the pets?
Each pet costs approximately L$8 per day to feed.
Cost can vary slightly depending on food pack size or which food method you use.

Do the pets have rarity?
Yes. Some traits (and some unlock types) are much more rare than others.
The best way to learn rarity is through breeding and watching the Trait Rarity page as the population grows.

What does Active or All Time mean on the Trait Rarity page?
Active will show pets that are currently in existance on the grid. All Time will show all pets that have ever existed at any point on the grid.
